Vehicles or other items of personal property registered or titled with the department that are
impounded by registered tow truck operators pursuant to RCW46.55.080, 46.55.085 or 46.55.113
may redeem only under the following circumstances:
Only the LEGAL owner, the REGISTERED owner of the vehicles, INSURER, a person who is
determined and verified by the operator to have the permission of the registered owner of the vehicle
or other item of personal property registered or titled with the department, or one who has purchased
a vehicle (has a notorized "Bill of Sale" ... this must be dated within 15 days of the PURCHASE of
the vehicle) or item of personal property registered or titled with the department from the registered
owner who produces proof of ownership or written authorization (that is notorized) and signs a
receipt therefore, may redeem an impounded vehicle or items of personal property registered or
titled with the department.
If you are redeeming a vehicle and do not have a current (valid) driver's license, you will still be
required to provide picture ID. Should you not have your driver's license with you or your driver's
license is no longer valid, please be advised that you must provide a "licensed" driver to remove
your
vehicle from any of our impound lots.
Automobile Insurance Requirement (applicable to Fife PD - DUI*NVOL*DWLS violations only):
Broad Form or Blanket Policy - will not be acceptable. A statement from your insurance company
(on their letterhead) must be faxed to our facility...stating the insured is insured to drive a
non-owned vehicle.
If your vehicle has been impounded by any of the following police agencies, there will be
additional requirements when seeking to release and redeem your vehicle.
